ONLY 6 WEEKS TILL CAMP...
At Higher Ground we are getting very excited! There are just six weeks left until our children's holiday camps. There has been great response from campers and we look forward to welcoming back campers who have attended before as well as new campers. We are highly expectant for what we believe is going to be a powerful, changing time and we trust that our campers will grow in many ways. Our desire is that, even more than having a meaningful time at camp, our campers will leave equipped to handle the pressures of being a young person – ready to take a stand against broken value systems, ready to become all that they can be, ready to make a difference in the world around them.
Our first holiday camp is for learners who are blind or visually impaired (3 – 8 July) and the second is for learners who have an intellectual impairment (10 – 14 July). Both are for high school learners and will be held at Camp Jonathan in Eston, KZN.
If you would like to assist in making the camp a reality for a deserving child who cannot afford the fees to attend camp (this is the case with virtually all of those who attend camp) please consider making a donation towards their sponsorship. The fee per child goes directly into the running of the camp (food, accommodation, all activities [including rock climbing and abseiling at Monteseel], supplies, petrol and food and accommodation for our volunteers). Any contribution which you can make would make such a difference. Sponsorship per camper for the first camp is R1600 and for the second camp it is R1500.
If anyone would be interested in sponsoring a whole camp please contact me for further information. We would be so grateful for your support.
If you would like to attend camp as a camper please contact us asap as spaces are filling up quickly.
If you would like to attend camp as a volunteer please also contact us asap.
